Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 September 2026. This policy explains what Name QR collects, why, and what control you have.

Please note: this document is a good-faith starting point written for a small, cookie-light website. It is not legal advice. Have a qualified lawyer review and adapt it to your jurisdiction before you rely on it.

1. Who we are

Name QR ("we", "us") operates nameqr.com. Our postal address is 651 North Broad Street, Suite 20, Middletown, DE 19709, United States. For any privacy question, contact info@nameqr.com or call +1 512-235-4899. For GDPR purposes we act as the data controller for this website.

2. The content you put into the generator

This is the important part. QR codes on this site are generated entirely inside your own browser using an open-source library. The URL, text, WiFi password, contact details, email body or phone number you type is never transmitted to our servers, never written to a database and never logged. When you close the tab, it is gone.

3. What we do collect

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data — IP address, user agent, requested page, timestamp — for security and reliability. These logs are retained for a short period and are not used to profile you.
  • Analytics, only with consent. If you accept analytics cookies in our banner, we may load a privacy-configured analytics script to count page views and understand which features are used. Reject, and nothing is loaded. See our Cookie Policy.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us or use the contact form, we hold your name, email address and message for as long as needed to answer and to keep a record of the conversation.

4. What we never do

  • We do not sell or rent personal data.
  • We do not require an account or an email address to use the generator.
  • We do not track scans of the codes you create — static codes have nothing to track.
  • We do not run advertising networks or third-party ad trackers on this site.

5. Legal bases for processing (UK/EU visitors)

  • Legitimate interests — keeping the site available, secure and free of abuse (server logs).
  • Consent — analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.
  • Legitimate interests / contract — responding to your enquiry when you contact us.

6. Sharing and transfers

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the site — our hosting provider, and our analytics provider where you have consented. Those providers may process data in the United States. We do not otherwise disclose personal data except where legally required.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to complain to a supervisory authority. California residents may request disclosure of and deletion of personal information and may opt out of any "sale" of it — we do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, email info@nameqr.com; we respond within 30 days.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because QR content is processed locally and we hold very little personal data, the attack surface is deliberately small. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply reasonable technical and organisational measures.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves — for example when accounts or dynamic QR codes launch. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
